JAKARTA, March 7, 2026 – The 5th-floor hall of IBDP SMA Islam Al Azhar 3 was transformed into a vibrant gallery of critical inquiry and creative expression today as the school hosted its annual IB Visual Arts Exhibition, titled “Emergence: Where Artist Begins.”
A Milestone in Artistic Development
The exhibition serves as a vital platform for students to demonstrate the core philosophy of the IB Visual Arts curriculum—treating art not merely as an aesthetic endeavor, but as a rigorous form of critical thinking. In alignment with the Al Azhar vision, the event highlighted how students bridge modern artistic practice with intellectual and moral integrity.
The event was officially inaugurated by Mr. M Nur, Vice Principal of SMA Islam Al Azhar 3. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the importance of fostering creative talent that can respond thoughtfully to global issues.
Grade 12: Critical Perspectives on Display
The exhibition’s centerpiece featured the comprehensive bodies of work by six graduating artists from Grade 12. These students presented diverse themes that challenged visitors to think deeply about the world:
Nailah Salsabila explored the complexities of Consumption.
Nayara Maysa delved into the nuances of Girlhood.
Khalila Amani investigated the concept of Comfort.
Fatimah K. W. presented a visual study of Time.
Emir Fazli examined the dynamics of Force Projection.
Diasulhaq showcased an architectural and social study on Utilitarianism.
The Future of the Program
Adding to the exhibition’s depth, the hall also featured experimental “Works in Progress” from Grade 10 and 11 (Pre-IBDP) students. These displays provided a unique glimpse into the developmental stages of the artistic mind, showcasing the raw potential and technical growth of the younger cohorts as they prepare for their senior years.
The exhibition concluded with high praise from visitors, parents, and the Jamiyyah committee, marking another successful chapter for the Visual Arts department under the guidance of Mr. Umam.
